Magic of Modern Arts Moments #8

A participant in Charleston immersed in art during The Magic of Modern Art workshop.

Hi Everyone,

I want to shine a light on an extraordinary group: The Magic of Modern Art Mensches.

Some of you may know them already—they are the heart of the Magic of Modern Art mission: to bring about a world where everyone, everywhere experiences the magic and wonder of modern and contemporary art.

What began in 2020 as a handful of art lovers meeting after the Conference for Global Transformation (sponsored by Landmark Worldwide) has grown into a vibrant circle of supporters who meet monthly to share ideas, cheer each other on, and actively shape the future of this work.

Their impact was especially clear during my recent trip to Charleston, South Carolina. At the Gibbes Museum of Art, I led two workshops on separate days: Saturday’s session included both the public and the museum’s Interpreters (the role many museums call Docents), while Monday’s session focused solely on the Interpreters. The Mensches meeting in between, on Sunday, made all the difference.

On Sunday, I had the good fortune of holding a Mensches meeting. I asked for their ideas to make the second workshop even more powerful, and they came through brilliantly. Their brainstorming gave me concrete new approaches that I put into practice—ways of making the session safer, more playful, and ultimately more transformative.

The Mensches aren’t just a support group—they are full partners. They bring their skills, insights, and spirit, and in turn they get the joy of knowing they are shaping something much bigger than themselves.

And here’s what’s next:

  • On October 9th, I’m flying in for a Magic of Modern Art VIP Tour at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. Designed as a highly personalized, all-day experience—complete with a private debrief in the setting of her choice—it is a one-of-a-kind 80th birthday gift that an extraordinary woman is giving to herself.

  • In December, I’ll lead a Magic of Modern Art Tour in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic as my contribution to a very special gathering there.

Wherever the journey leads—from Charleston to Stanford to Punta Cana—I’m grateful for the Mensches who keep this vision alive and expanding.

With love and excitement,
