June 9, 2022 — Artist and author Robyn Jamison’s new book, ‘The Magic of Modern Art—How To Love Modern and Contemporary Art’ is available from her website, https://magicofmodernart.com. There is a lot to take in from the beautifully designed pages about experiencing and fully appreciating modern and contemporary art.

A Fresh Approach

Magic of Modern Art
Robyn Jamison’s newest book about contemporary modern art is available here on her website. Artist and author Robyn Jamison suggests that we all have the ability to love and embrace modern art in her new book, The Magic of Modern Art—How to Love Modern & Contemporary Art.

In this highly engaging and empowering book, artist and innovator, Robyn Jamison, introduces a fresh, accessible approach to appreciating modern and contemporary art. This book provides readers with a tried-and-true process for transforming their visits to modern and contemporary art exhibits into joyful, enriching experiences—experiences they eagerly anticipate, avidly soak in and never get over.

Your Five-Year-Old Could Not Do That

Jamison was stunned the first time she heard a museum visitor exclaim, “My five-year-old could do that!” This woman was looking at a famous work by Joan Miro. From Jamison: “I had just spent five years of intensive work developing my talent and skills, and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that no five-year-old could produce the refinement and compositional brilliance of such a deceptively simple masterpiece.

“I asked myself, why would anyone express disdain for such a marvelous work of art? One thing seemed certain—alienated museum-goers could not have been seeing the art the same way I did. I wondered what prevented them from recognizing how great the art was. Then, as I listened to more and more similar comments, it became apparent that these frustrated art viewers had firmly held beliefs about what art should be about and how it should look. There was no question that the art they were seeing failed to meet those criteria.”

Natural Affinity for Modern Art – We All Have It

Jamison asserts that all human beings have an innate, natural affinity for art, including modern and contemporary. Further, her premise is that reawakening this affinity has much more to do with clearing out what’s in the way than it does with accumulating information. Jamison systematically dismantles over 30 preconceived notions that stand between museum goers and this natural affinity for all art.

Outside-the-Box Art Tours

Jamison presents the readers with powerful, effective ways to access their innate love of art and explore modern and contemporary art with freedom and confidence. In fact, book owners can even use the QR code printed in the book to conduct the art tours for themselves in an online flip-book format.

“When I inquire into my own love affair with modern and contemporary art,” writes Jamison, “I see clearly that when I am focused entirely on the art in front of me—setting aside judgment and cognitive thinking—that’s when I find myself profoundly moved and deeply satisfied.” And that’s where her book takes us.
