Magic of Modern Arts Moments #7
Hi, Everyone!
Thank you so much for reading these updates — and extra thanks to those of you who write back with your thoughts, ideas, and encouragement. I absolutely love hearing from you, and your support means the world to me!
There’s been a lot happening lately, so here’s a little roundup of the magic.
Celebrating Cynthia Cooper’s New Role
Robyn and Cynthia
Many of you already know Cynthia Cooper, who has been part of our Magic of Modern Art family from the very beginning as one of our wonderful Mensches. I’m thrilled to share that Cynthia has now stepped into a new role as a part-time staff member, taking on accountability for our Magic of Modern Art VIP Tours. Cynthia brings warmth, insight, and enthusiasm to this work, and I couldn’t be happier to have her in this new capacity!
If you’re not familiar, our VIP Tours are highly customized art experiences for small, intimate groups. People come away seeing modern and contemporary art — and, really, the world — through new eyes. Whether someone starts out as an art lover or a skeptic, these tours offer a fresh, inspiring access to the wonder of modern art.
Workshop Highlights
In April, I had the joy of leading a workshop at the fabulous McNay Art Museum’s Evening for Educators in San Antonio, Texas. The McNay had never offered anything quite like it before, and I’m thrilled to share that it was a tremendous success. Since the group was made up almost entirely of art teachers, it was especially gratifying to watch them fall in love with contemporary art on a whole new level — and leave inspired and eager to provide the same experience for their students.
Also in April, I led a Magic of Modern Art tour at The Contemporary Austin for a wonderful group of 13 friends and friends of friends. It was a true delight to hear them share the extraordinary breakthroughs they experienced.
This September, I’m thrilled to be heading to Charleston for a public day-long workshop at The Gibbes Museum of Art— another chance to connect with a new community and share the magic! I’ll also be conducting an in-house workshop for the Gibbes docents, where they’ll gain new tools for turning their visitors on to the wonder of modern and contemporary art.
New Adventures in Vancouver
As many of you know, my husband and I recently moved to Vancouver, B.C. It’s been quite an adventure — and I’m so excited about what lies ahead. Vancouver has a vibrant art scene and so many communities I hope to reach: people from all walks of life who might not yet have discovered the joy of modern and contemporary art.
Thank you, as always, for being part of this journey. Your friendship and support help bring the magic of modern and contemporary art to people everywhere.
With warmest regards and appreciation,
Robyn
